A feature wall is an accent or statement wall that breaks up the monotonousness of other walls. It’s often used to draw attention of the visitors and it always becomes the main focal point of a room. A statement wall is usually used to accentuate the decorative details and furnishings against the wall.

Pale colors aren’t so demanding and work beautifully with natural tones, such as grey and taupe. A mint-colored wood panelling wall behind the bed not only draws attention but also makes the room feel cozy. For a traditional look, painted wood paneling works well.

2. Earthy Laminate Wood Wall

Statement laminate wood in earthy hue extends from the floor to create a backdrop and headboard. When teamed with bedside pendant lights, the accent wall makes its way to become a focal point of the soothing master bedroom.

3. Timber Wall

This house opens up the living room to have dining area and kitchen altogether in the same space. The concrete floor in the entire area however brings coldness and stiffness to the space. By using timber TV wall panel, wooden dining table and bookshelves, it does break up the coldness and inject warmth to the entire space.

4. Exposed Brick Wall

The exposed brick wall gives an industrial feel to the room. You can either get a builder to expose the brickwork and treat it, or install simple stone slip tiles as a feature. There are also a range of brick-effect wallpapers and coverings that will bring heaps of character to your space. A flood of natural light gives the space the feeling of an outdoor room.

A small box room will not look dull anymore by adding interesting paint effect on the wall behind the bed. Painting all four walls the same color can exaggerate the boxy feel. Add some fun elements in vibrant colors to complement the painted feature wall. The white paint on the remaining walls makes the room look bigger and contrasts beautifully with the colorful feature wall.

7. Single-Colored Painted Feature Wall

Select your favourite color palette for your bedroom, paint the wall behind the bed and leave the rest of the walls white to create a focal point in your bedroom. This bedroom uses a warm color palette for the suite and the dark grey feature wall brings warmth and calming vibe to the room.

Large, flat, hard surfaces can amplify sound, so adding texture will help reduce this effect. Paneling one of your walls with reclaimed wood, as seen here, not only creates an interesting feature, but also does the sound-dampening job.
