Storage is never enough for the kitchen. We have way too much stuff in the kitchen, for example, condiments, kitchen appliances, snack boxes, pans, pots and so on, do I need to go on? Piling all these stuff on your countertop and island could be distressing to the eyes every time you step in the kitchen. You might be thinking that decluttering them needs a lot of storage cabinets. Even you have a small kitchen and it doesn’t fit in any more cabinet, there are still ways to keep the clutter out of view.

1. Add a small island with storage cabinet

You may not have the space for a conventional island. Measure up your kitchen and find a small island that fits just right in the space and doesn’t affect the workflow of the kitchen. A kitchen island adds plenty of practicality to this compact kitchen. The extra counter adds prep area and the cabinet underneath adds extra storage for your stuff. Choose a bespoke unit like this to add a touch of personality to your kitchen.

2. Add dividers to your drawers

Storing your odd shaped kitchenware could be a headache. Ever find yourself ransacking the drawer and taking the kitchenware out of the drawer one by one to find the right tool you need? An easy solution is to add dividers and make the kitchenware stand instead of lying flat. Now you can see your trivets, rolling pins, trays and et cetera at a glance and get what you need in seconds.

3. Seek out clever racking

Make full use of the unused space at the corner of a L-shaped cupboard with this clever internal pull-out racking. It gives you extra storage at the corner space and allows you to reach everything stored inside. This is especially important if you have a small kitchen.

4. Hang your pots and pans on the shelf

This teeny tiny kitchen makes use of a shelf over the bench to hang pots and pans to keep them off the stovetop and bench top. It’s  also worth noting that mounting a lid rack against the wall is a practical solution to keep all the lids.

5. Keep kitchen appliances in cabinet

Let’s face it. Everyone has at least one appliance which is seldom used or not in use at all. It could be very frustrating to see your countertop turning into an appliance store. Designate a cabinet which could be out of the kitchen area to store all these kitchen appliances to keep your countertop free of these giant electrical products. Bring them out only when you need to use them.

6. Add pegboard on the wall

Install a big piece of pegboard on one of your blank walls to create a lot of storage for your pots, pans and miscellaneous tools. The predrilled holes typically fit most S- and J-hooks. Pegboard provides versatility as it doesn’t take up a single square inch and it provides flexibility to the storage for many different kitchen essentials.

7. Organise with wire racks

Everyone has the situation where the little jars and packets hidden behind the cupboard always get forgotten about. With this utilitarian pull-out wire racks, no more hidden gems will get expired and wasted. Simply pull out the rack, you can see everything  stored on the rack at a glance and reach them easily. Unlike the conventional shelving in the cupboard, you can pack the whole rack with stuff as you don’t need to keep any space for you to find and reach them.

8. Double your storage with clever doors

Adopt the fridge concept and put up the shelves at the interior door to provide storage for jars and packets. In that way, the depth of the shelves in the cupboard will be reduced and the shallow shelves provide easy access and a clear display. By utilising the door storage, nothing gets blocked and left behind at the back of the shelves. There will be no more waste of food!
