There are much more ways to showcase your book collection than you ever thought. Just a little tweak on the book arrangement and this will immediately transform your usual bookcase into a focal point in the space.

1. Blend the books with upholstery

If you have a built-in bench set right beside a window, you can display your favourite reads under the bench like this and custom make your upholsteries to echo the colours of your book spines to create a harmonious feel. The throw pillows also pick up on the same hues, i.e. brown, beige, blue and green.

2. Colour-code the books

Colour code your book collection. Transform your bookcase into a focal point by organising your reads according to the colour of their spines. Keep the background of your shelves neutral otherwise brightly coloured paint or patterned wallpaper will dilute the effect.

3. Make the book spine face inwards

If you don’t want to get distracted by the multiple colours on the book spines and would like to keep the neutral palette in your dining area like this, turn your books around and arrange your book spines facing inwards. This makes the dining area feel calm and unified.

4. Mix and match the book display

Books bring warmth, color and character to any room. They can be displayed standing upright or lying flat or in a mixture of both positions. Choose your keepsakes carefully and display them with the books according to the same colour code. Colour-coordinated bookshelves not only look delightful, they will give your library a sense of order and harmony too.

5. Lay the books down

Transform a random mishmash of books into a stylish feature, arrange the books lying flat at both ends of each rack to create a modern look in this living room. This way, you can store more books than the usual way of displaying them standing upright. Remember to keep enough space between the two stacks of books for easy access.

6. Add aesthetic book cover

Give your books a facelift. Make over the book covers using gift wraps with the colour tone you prefer. It’s a great way to add style to your bookcase.

Storing the books with the covers facing outwards to allow your little ones to see exactly what books are available for reading. This produces a colourful display and more importantly needs minimal depth, a great solution to a tight space.

8. Arrange the books in random order

Organise your books in random order and add drama to the space. The disorderly books bring a great contrast against the neat and minimalist living room.

9. Organise the books to create rainbow effect

Pick a central spot to stash your books and create a visual impact in a white bookcase by arranging them according to different colours where each colour spreads across the entire bookshelf diagonally. This creates an attractive rainbow effect. A great way to add style, a sense of fun and a new level of organization all at the same time.
